Working with Refugees

www.theirc.org

During college, I was an intern for this organization. I worked in the Immigration Department helping refugees trying to obtain their citizenship. After graduation, I decided to try something new, and I become an ESL tutor/mentor  to refugee high  school students. This lead to my decision to take a chance and teach English abroad in South Kore. This organization  changed my life! It will always be close to my <3

Teaching English in South Korea

After graduating from college, I wanted a change! I knew that I wasn’t going to be successful in landing a job back  home and my <3 was set on teaching English in South Korea. It took 6 long months of waiting, but after finding a good recruiter and getting accepted into the EPIK (English Program in Korea) I flew out of here!!! My time was filled with ups and downs, but it TRANSFORMED my life. I am so thankful for all my experiences. I’ve met so many really AWESOME souls, #1 my students, my friends, and co-teachers. South Korea will always have a special place in my <3

The Korean Animal Protection Society (KAPS)

While teaching in South Korea, I missed my pets so much back home. So, I volunteered at The Korean Animal Protection Society. I learned so much about abandoned, abused, and neglected animals through this organization. All the animals (cats and dogs) really need homes and people to love them <3  ^_^

Travel

I am so blessed to experience so many… breathtaking places at my age. Sometimes, I pinch myself and asked if it was real. Was I really there? When I think of visiting a new country, I think of them as meeting new friends. It was my life dream to visit: South Korea, Thailand, China, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines, and Burma ^_^

All the places that I visited have changed my perspective about the world. I can never look at the world through my old rose-colored glasses. The places that I visited were just a small portion of the world…it makes me realize how incredible and amazing this world is!!! There is still so much to see, learn, and experience.
